How to prepare

  • Join two ideas with "and" or "and then". Trinity expects Grade 3 candidates to link groups of words: "I have breakfast and then I go to work."
  • Learn to say dates. "The twenty-third of May." Practise today's date, tomorrow's date and your birthday.
  • Use "-ing" for pictures. "She's buying fruit." "He's walking." The examiner wants to hear what people are doing now.
  • Practise "was" and "were". "I was at home." "It was cold." You only need the past of "to be" at this grade.
  • Prepare a question for the examiner. You must ask at least one about everyday life: "What do you do at the weekend?"
