Trinity A2 test practice 1: GESE Grade 3

Questions about your daily routine, dates and weather, what you can do, a picture of a park, places near you, and where you were yesterday.

How to use this test. The real exam is a 7-minute conversation with one examiner, so the questions will not be exactly these. Press a button to hear each question, answer out loud in your own words, then look at the example. Practise with a friend as the examiner if you can.

7:007 minutes: the length of the real exam

The conversation

Your daily routine

Your daily routine and the times you do things.

  • What time do you get up?

  • What do you do in the morning?

  • What time do you have lunch?

  • What do you do in the evening?

Dates and weather

Dates, and the weather now and in the past.

  • What's the date today?

  • When is your birthday?

  • What's the weather like today?

  • What was the weather like yesterday?

Free time and what you can do

What you can and can't do, and your free time.

  • What do you do in your free time?

  • Can you swim?

  • Can you cook?

  • What can people do in your town at the weekend?

A picture

Saying what people are doing now, with the present continuous.

  • What is the man doing?

  • What's the weather like in the picture?

  • Where is the dog?

  • Is the man sitting on the bench?

Places and directions

Places near you, and very simple directions.

  • Where do you live?

  • Is there a supermarket near your home?

  • How do you go from your home to the shops?

  • What is there in your town?

Yesterday, and jobs

Where you were, with "was" and "were", and jobs.

  • Where were you yesterday afternoon?

  • Were you at work last week?

  • What's your job?

  • What job does your husband or wife do?

Now ask the examiner a question

At Grade 3, Trinity requires at least one simple question about everyday life. Say one of these out loud, or make your own:

  • What time do you start work?
  • What do you do at the weekend?
  • Can you speak another language?
